Australia’s Leading Au Pair Service
01
Au Pair weekly pocket money
As an AIFS Host Family, you’ll provide a cultural exchange experience, including room, full board, and weekly pocket money for your Au Pair. While you determine the pocket money amount, we recommend $295 per week for up to 30 hours of work for our Classic & Plus Au Pairs and $350 for Platinum. If your Au Pair works the full 35-hour maximum, consider increasing this accordingly to reflect the additional hours.
02
Application checks and screening
All first-time Host Families must provide us with references that we can verify. You must also ensure that every person aged 18 years or older who will be residing in your household during the Au Pair’s placement has completed an online National Criminal Police check. The current cost of this check is $49.00.
03
Travel and time off allowances
As a Host Family, you’re responsible for arranging transportation for your Au Pair from orientation in Sydney to your home, whether by bus, car, plane, or train. If your Au Pair will be driving your vehicle, they must be covered under your insurance policy. Additionally, you’ll need to provide sufficient time off during their placement, including at least one paid week off and 1.5 days off each week.
04
End of placement completion bonus
At the end of a six-month placement, you are required to provide your Au Pair with a $300 completion bonus. If you wish to extend their placement beyond six months, a pro-rata fee will be invoiced based on the extension length.

02Can we pay the Placement Fee after our Au Pair starts?
Your Placement Fee is due 1 month prior to your Au Pair's arrival or for faster placements, upon receipt.

05How long does it take to find an Au Pair?
Generally it takes around 4-8 weeks to find an Au Pair for your family, but this can change throughout the year. Au Pairs from countries other than Germany can normally arrive in Australia at short notice, although finding the right match between your family and an Au Pair’s profile is our number one priority. While the matching process may take a little more time, it ensures that your Au Pair will fit your family and its requirements.
