01
Au Pair weekly pocket money
As an AIFS Host Family, you’ll provide a cultural exchange experience, including room, full board, and weekly pocket money for your Au Pair. While you determine the pocket money amount, we recommend:
- $340 per week for up to 30 hours (Classic & Plus Au Pairs)
- $375 per week for up to 35 hours (Classic & Plus Au Pairs)
- $395 per week for up to 30 hours (Platinum)
- $430 per week for up to 35 hours (Platinum)
If your Au Pair works the full 35-hour maximum, consider increasing this accordingly to reflect the additional hours.
02
Application checks and screening
All first-time Host Families must provide us with references that we can verify. You must also ensure that every person aged 18 years or older who will be residing in your household during the Au Pair’s placement has completed an online National Criminal Police check. The current cost of this check is $49.00. All references and police checks are renewed regularly.
03
Travel and time off allowances
As a Host Family, you’re responsible for arranging transportation for your Au Pair from orientation in Sydney to your home, whether by bus, car, plane, or train. If your Au Pair will be driving your vehicle, they must be covered under your insurance policy. Additionally, you’ll need to provide sufficient time off during their placement, including at least one paid week off (more for longer placements) and 1.5 days off each week.
04
End of placement completion bonus
At the end of a successfully completed placement, you are required to provide your Au Pair with a $300 completion bonus. Placement extensions are possible; a pro-rata fee will be invoiced based on the extension length.
